Another take from evolutionary biology: there seems to be a correlation between sexual dimorphism and gender patterns. Ravens = same size or female larger and pair bonded. Elephant seals = males are double the size and the winner ends up with 40-50 females. Humans rate as 'mildly promiscuous' on a par with wrens with less dimorphism than either chimps or gorillas.
