I suggest looking at things like Movement Voter Project that aims at funding people that organize. The issue isn't necessarily Democrats per se but politicians that respond to the donor class rather than all of us on the ground. Some Democrat organizations (eg Wisconsin) focus on organizing and a full court press but most focus on a few candidates and leave little behind to keep the pressure on. And without that, the Democrats summed across total impact (and always with wonderful exceptions) remain by and large the gutless weasels.
