A few thoughts. Assuming that 'what women want' is equivalent to what people want (and perhaps a superset of what men want:-) Hmmmm, that could explain what confuses men: women, they play by rules we don't understand:-)

Anyway, here's an interesting alternative to Maslow that posits basic motivations as autonomy, competence, and relatedness.
